Why Mulching and Tree Planting Work Better Together

Most people think of mulching and planting as two separate jobs. They're not. One sets the other up for success - and when you do them together, the results speak for themselves.

Here's the thing about young trees: they're vulnerable. Bare soil loses moisture fast, competing root systems from surrounding brush can choke them out early, and without some protection at the base, you're fighting an uphill battle from day one. A solid layer of mulch changes that equation. It holds moisture in the ground, regulates soil temperature, and gives those new roots the stable environment they need to actually take hold.

That's where our forestry mulching work really pays off. When we clear out overgrowth and invasive species, we're not just hauling material away - we're grinding it down into a natural mulch layer that goes right back into the ground. That material becomes useful. It protects the soil, adds organic matter over time, and creates the kind of conditions where new trees and healthy growth can thrive. It's a cleaner process than traditional land clearing, and the end result does more for the land.

The work you see here is a good example of that combination in action. Cleared understory, mulched ground, and space ready for new growth. This is the kind of setup that pays off not just this season, but for years down the road. It's less about one big moment and more about getting the conditions right so the land can do what it's supposed to do.
